The University of Minnesota Arboretum delights and inspires hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. We are looking for an experienced marketing project professional who wants to make a profoundly positive difference in our mission to welcome, inform and inspire more new visitors and deepen relationships with existing friends. The Marketing Project Specialist will play a critical role assuring the delivery of cross functional promotional literature system, marketing programs, projects and collateral for the Arboretum. Work will include copy writing, print/production layout support. Reporting to the Manager of Marketing Programs, the marketing project specialist is part of the Marketing Programs team and larger Commercial Operations and Guest Services division of the Arboretum. Deliverables include:
Work with internal cross Arboretum clients on marketing project and production needs as assigned by the Marketing Program Manager
Ensure that all marketing projectson-time, within scope and within budget
Coordinate and collaborate with Digital Programs and Communications/PR teams as appropriate
Manage, obtain change approvals from project owners and communicate changes in project scope, schedule and costs
Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
Manage and maintain excellent relationships with clients and all stakeholders
Work with third parties/vendors
Create and maintain project documentation, provide regular project status reports to Marketing Programs Manager
Work cross functionally with Arboretum department staff, the University of Minnesota and third party vendors to assure excellence in project delivery and Arboretum brand standards
This role will require some weekend and evening work
75% Arboretum marketing project support
Work cross functionally in support of marketing programs and projects. Using a consultative approach, connect with internal partners/customers to identify their project needs, plan and propose solutions and improvements to best meet the needs. Provide layout, design and copy writing support to projects. Work with internal clients to establish plans, update on progress, implement on-time and jointly assess results. Meet and exceed project client/partner satisfaction and project expense/revenue targets.
15% Special Project Support
Work with cross functional, internal clients in Business Operations, Development, Education and Garden Operations to plan and support special projects as assigned by the Marketing Program Manager. Work cross-functionally with Arboretum staff to assure special project success. Special project support may include, but is not limited to set-up, delivery and take down for special exhibits and events. Meet and exceed project client/partner satisfaction and project expense/revenue targets.
10% Team Cross Organization Training and Support
Deliver marketing project training and support to Arboretum staff. Participate in cross-functional opportunities including diversity, team building and leadership development.
Bachelor Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing Art or related field, or, professional certification and/or course completion in marketing, promotion, copywriting, or project management plus 4 years relevant experience
Exceptional project management: planning, collaboration, documentation, implementation and assessment experience is a must
Strong sales/promotional literature creative, copy writing, print/production experience
Excellent project consulting skills
Exceptional understanding of budgets and budget accountability
