The Nebraska Tourism Commission (NTC) is seeking a qualified candidate to help direct all marketing, promotional and partnership programs including strategies and plans to stimulate the growth and economic impact of tourism in the state. The Marketing Manager reports to the NTC Executive Director and oversees the NTC's marketing strategies to support the Commission's mission by generating visitation to the state, focusing primarily on out-of-state markets; increasing visitor spending and resultant state and local tax revenue, earnings and industry-related employment. General working hours are M-F 8-5 with occasional evening/weekend work.
Coordinates closely with the NTC's Public Information Officer (PIO) to collaboratively integrate public relations and social media programs into overall marketing strategies and efforts. Ensures that the NTC's brand strategy and positioning platform are reflected in messaging across all media and is integrated in content throughout all channels. Works closely with the NTC Executive Director and PIO to direct and manage marketing partners, including the advertising and web/content/visitor guide agencies. Oversees development of marketing strategies and advertising strategies; seasonal tactical marketing plans; coordinates approval of all creative development, design and layout of all communications materials involved. Develops, tracks and updates the multi-million dollar marketing budget including creative development, media planning and placement and works internally to monitor and report progress on spending approved through the Executive Director, the NTC's Marketing Committee and NTC's Board of Directors, as appropriate. Creates and implements a system of reporting results in a meaningful, understandable and actionable dashboard format for presentation to and review by appropriate internal staff, NTC Committees and NTC Board. Leads the determination of relevant goals/metrics to report and works with PIO to integrate PR and social media metrics into the dashboard presentation. Coordinates with marketing partners to determine key indicators of program performance to assist in assessment of overall program success.
Bachelors degree in advertising, marketing, public relations or communication, AND three to five years increasingly responsible experience in developing, planning, and managing: marketing, advertising, communication and public information/relation concepts, practices, principles and programs; IT/Web development, public speaking, events planning, collaboration, budgeting, and supervision of staff.
PREFERRED: Extensive knowledge and experience in destination marketing, preferably at the state level or a large CVB/DMO. Significant experience in brand strategy development and management, campaign planning and implementation, budget management and stewardship. Eight or more years of experience in marketing management and communications including a thorough knowledge of marketing intangible products is desired, along with a track record of success.
Must be team oriented and have demonstrated abilities to work effectively with staff and colleagues, NTC Board and Committee members. Must have strong leadership and management skills and the ability to bring the interests of a number of diverse groups into focus around key objectives to attain success. Must work well under pressure and be skilled in relationship building and networking within a diverse industry groups including destination marketing organizations, various industry associations and stakeholder groups throughout the state.
