Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University is seeking an Administrative Specialist I to provide executive-level administrative support to the Department Chairs as well as administrative oversight for the Departments of Management and Marketing.
This position reports directly to the department chair and will manage the overall operation of the department. This includes financial operations; program and event management activities; and providing high-level administrative support to the department chairs and faculty. This includes managing departmental fund accounts; assisting faculty members with their teaching and research activities; preparing statistical reports on enrollment of majors and class sizes; preparing correspondences for the chair, including reports and presentations; facilitating conferences, speaker series, and meetings; providing support for departmental faculty searches; and maintaining calendars and class schedules.
The successful candidate must be able to make sound decisions, maintain confidentiality, and possess effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. The candidate will also have strong organizational skills; the desire to continuously learn and willingness to take initiative; ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and effectively exercise independent judgment; and consistently project a friendly and professional demeanor and have an appreciation for diversity and inclusion that includes constituents from a variety of cultural and international backgrounds.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling more than 4 years. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
-Experience working at a higher education institution -Experience providing high-level administrative support -Experience in budget management -Experience using Microsoft Suites, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access -Experience providing excellent customer service to a diverse population
